Natural Amber on Etsy

I have added many new things in my etsy amber shop today and yesterday.

Charms from my Amber shop on Etsy

For the same occasion searched around Etsy for natural amber. It is interesting to read how other sellers describe their items, what do they point out and so on.

At one point I began to laugh in voice... Of course it is easy to laugh for me when I grown up with ambers in my hands.. but comon... if you already are selling mainly amber, you should know a little about it. Isn't it right?

Amber is said to be medicine from all illnesses and body abnormalities (like infertility). But to heal some part of the body, amber is put next to it or close to it. In many cases to construct something what would heal powerfully needs very specific knowledge not only about colours of amber, but also forms of amber, symbols, combinations with other plants and so on.
.. So I was searching today for "natural amber" and again I have found teething jewelry. Teething anklet :D I guest that child for whom mother will buy that anklet will have to chew his feet all the time to feel any affect for his teeths :D Teething necklaces should have some affects, to calm baby a little, to reduce fever and pain, but not every amber fits for that... here, on Etsy looks like that people do not care what they sell and for what it should be used. In fact for teething people used not necklaces, but big piece of amber which children ware chewing. Somehow old ways and knowledge are described today in the ways which are easiest to sell and sellers do not care, what they talk it is not true.

Some time ago, i have seen black amber teething necklace. My thought was "Oh my God...". No matter that black stones should not be worn by children under 10 years old at all, but black amber (jet black) do not heal! It is the only amber which is not for healing or protection. And in Baltic lands people avoided black amber, because it should guide soul of the dead man to afterlife world safely (was putted on a dead man in his grave) and was used by ancient wizards in black magic during war time! And here they sell it for children! Can you imagine that?

In time i will make another entry in to this blog, to talk about the colors of amber and for what which color is used. I guess there is another entry needed too - how to determine is amber real. Thinking what else is needed here... maybe you have any suggestions?

Archaic song with archaic Lithuanian words

Original words/translated

Išmivedi vedi /Walked away (possibly)
Ožį ant uolyčios/Goat to the grass (or another meaning could be Goat to the vilage street)
Ei tūta, ei tūtela /(these words say nothing to me, but acordingly to Lithuanian dictionary, tūta means cowherd wistle/little horn. So the meaning could be hey wistle/horn, hey little wistle/horn)
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Paminrodyk ožy / Goat, show me
Kaip tevutis šoka /How my papa dances
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Šitaip mano tevutis / This is how my papa
Šitaip šokinėja /This is how he is hopping
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Šitaip mano tevutis / This is how my papa
Šitaip trepinėja / this is how he tramps
Ei tūta, ei tūtela
Ei tūta, ei tūtela

How to pronounce main words? [ei tu:ta, ei tu:tela]

The words and various forms are really not usual to my eyes.
Lithuanians a lot of everday information putted in to the songs. So from the songs it is possible to get the feeling of the culture.

I have found this movie in Youtube, it's bad quality, but this is the way song is sanged (same words are repeated by each person, but at a diferent time. So it is one of Lithuanian sutartine. Without hearing it's hard to imagine. How archaic is what they do.. it's onother question, but it is quit possible interpretation :)

Lithuanian national dances: nice moments.

When I was a little girl (8 years-old), I was one of 12 lucky girls who ware dancing at school Lithuanian national daces (there ware 12 couples). So when i watch the movies about Lithuanian national dances at youtube, that makes my hart to beat a little bit faster :)
It is said, that you can say a lot about culture of the nation from their national dances. I have found one short movie, which shows Lithuanian national dances in various angles.

On the other side of Nemunas (the biggest river in Lithuania)
Three maples were greening
In those three maples,
in those green ones three doves were cooing.
and in those three maples, in those green ones
three doves were cooing

under three green maples
three lads were talking
the lads, the young soldiers were talking
were they will spend the night
the lads, the young soldiers were talking
were they will spend the night

I have found one of the internet old style Lithuanian music.
Lithuanian (I'm am not shure is it same in Latvia) has very special old style songs, which we call "sutartine". The word "sutartine" is from word agree/arange. The aim of the songs is that same simple texts are singed in diferent time. This is very very old type of folk songs.

Better listen, than read :)

With older clothes:

Some views of old Baltic pagan rituals with songs

Old instruments are not for museaums only :)
Kankles (one of the oldest Lithuanian music instrumens)

woden bells

some more bells (he better woundn't sing :D)

Some new traditions? :D

Lithuania is beautiful!

It really is.
Last weekend I got up a little depressed (many problems at work, studies, and personal life). It was a sunny morning, so I have asked my friend is he free today. He said "yes". I asked him to come. Said to dress-up like he would go to the forest. Gave some money on petrol and showed the way without saying where to go. He got curious.

When we got near the first place I have said, that we are going to search some nice places around the castles.
I was there 10 years ago, so i know that there are definitely some nice views.

We have visited Two castles "Raudone" and "Panemune"
The photo above: "Raudonės pilis" (Photo somewhere from the google).

There was amazing view to the biggest river of Lithuania Nemunas.

Near both castles some of the old stone road was still there.

(Photo of the castle is somewhere from the google). The second castle "Panemunės pilis" is about 10km from the first one. It is also near the river Nemunas but has amazing surroundings with man made lakes (from the tiny river), man made hills and so on. Take a closer look below.

In the summer time, when everything is green, it is amazingly beautiful here..

Near the hill where stands castle is other hill, which (as I suppose) is man maid, the family crypt stands. Time and nowadays humans had really some affect on it.. sadly. (Yes there is me in that photo).
Mankind has affect not only on the crypts but on the trees too. That tree had to be few hundred years old and had to look very interestingly. Not many trees in such age is there..

And then we ware in the road again.. I just said "Next stop is Taurage" "Are you going to your parents???". Yes Taurage is my hometown. But I just wanted to see few places where i spent much time.
I have found some old, well known to me trees..

...and some well known to me places..

Then we ware at the road again. I went to the place, where I have not been for 15 years.

This is MY forest. It is mine, because I have lived near it (about 50 meters from it) for 3 years. The nearest neighbour was about 500 meter from my home, next about 2km :) I knew every tree, every place where to find mushrooms of the kind I wanted that evening for dinner :) The forest had changed unbelievably.. some places where I used to pic-up mushrooms ware devastated, no treed there anymore.. Some places somehow became to swamps. It was great that I was with my camouflage. I love army boots :D we went through the swamp so in each step my feet was 5-7cm underwater, but my feets were dry. I saw a snake in that swamp about meter from me. It was too fast and gone under the water, I could not see what kind of snake there was. At that moment i have remembered that i would like to have a grass snake at home like my ancestors in old times had.. We took a walk for a few hours. We have came to the dry part of the forest. Then just sat on the ground and had a dinner with my friend.
After this we came back to our car and went home.
It was a great day.. i really needed it :) My friend was grateful too :)
